Citizens for Protection of Washington County will hold its monthly meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Volunteer Fire Co. of Halfway, 11114 Lexington Ave.
The guest speaker will be Ron Bowers, former Washington County commissioner for 20 years, member of the Economic Development Commission and retiredU.S. Armymajor.
The agenda includes an open discussion and question-and-answer session concerning county issues, spending and who is paying the bills.
All are invited to attend.
Great Outdoor expo to be held this weekend
The Great Outdoor Expo is set for Saturday and Sunday at Valley Mall.
The event will include a rock wall climb in Center Court, Great Hunt Outfitters display, birds rescued by Trego Mountain Bird Sanctuary, ATVs from Twigg Cycles and a golf skills area courtesy of Greencastle Greens Golf Course.

National anthem tryouts set for March 10 at mall
The Hagerstown Suns will hold auditions to sing the national anthem at home games.
The auditions will be at Valley Mall Saturday, March 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the food court area.
Registration for the event begins at 9 a.m.

Girl Scouts turn 100
The Girl Scouts organization turns 100 years old on March 12.
In celebration of the milestone, Washington County Girl Scouts are inviting all Girl Scouts, former Girl Scouts and parents to attend the 100th birthday celebration on Monday, March 12, at 6:15 p.m. at the J.C. Penney Court at Valley Mall.
The ceremony will start at 6:30 p.m.
The plan is to create a large friendship circle, light a birthday candle and sing a song.
Anyone who still has a Girl Scout sash or pins is encouraged to bring them to the celebration.
