It included community leaders from Keedysville Town Council, Boonsboro Town Council, Pleasant Valley Ruritan, Boonsboro Environmental Commission, Green Fest, Sharpsburg Lions Club, Volunteer Washington County and Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
Also present were student leaders representing organizations in the BHS community.
The group came together to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. and reflect on the service opportunities in the Boonsboro school district.
The group thought about King’s question, “What are you doing for others?” Those on hand discussed how rich our community is with a deep history of service organizations and caring individuals who give of themselves to support the community in a variety of ways.
There are many opportunities to get involved in helping South County be a strong, healthy and engaged community. When citizens care, they can accomplish great things. Many thanks to Sally Poole, student service learning adviser, for sharing this information.
