FIre company to celebrate 75th anniversary

Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Co. will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a 75th-anniversary lights and sirens parade through the town of Clear Spring Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.

Following the parade, a firefighters muster will be held at the carnival grounds. The muster will include firefighting competitions, including bucket brigade, tug of war and the midnight alarms. Refreshments will be available. Cookbooks and T-shirts will also be available for purchase. There will be music throughout the day.




Community yard sale

Hilltop Christian Fellowship will hold a community yard sale Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Items for sale include tools, furniture, antiques, household items, dishes, collectibles and children’s clothes. Food will be available for purchase.

The church is at 12624 Trinity Church Drive in Clear Spring.

Potpie supper

District 15 Civic Organization will hold a ham and chicken slippery potpie supper Saturday, Sept. 24, from 4 p.m. until sold out at the Big Pool Community Building.

Proceeds go to the building fund.  

The supper consists of all-you-can-eat potpie, stewed tomatoes, coleslaw, applesauce, cake and drink. All dinners are eat in or carry out. No quarts will be sold.  

The meal costs $7 for adults and $4 for those ages 12 and younger. Preschoolers eat for free.  



Community show planned at Grange hall

Wacohu Grange will hold its annual community show this week.

Registration for entries will be Thursday from  6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 to 11:30 a.m.

The judging of exhibits will be Friday at noon.  

The show opens Friday at 4:30 p.m.

A spaghetti dinner will be held Friday at 4:30 p.m., followed by bingo from 6 to 8 p.m.  

On Saturday, a chicken barbecue starts at 11 a.m.; a flea market/yard sale will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and an auction will be at 3 p.m.
