Boonsboro’s Green Fest is set for Saturday.
The fourth annual event will feature 142 eco-friendly vendors at Shafer Park.
The free festival will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event features a drive-through recycling drop-off loop in the Community Center parking lot, speakers, children’s activities, entertainment on a new stage, a food and beverage pavilion, and clothing and sports equipment swaps.
The festival, which is always held on the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend, is sponsored by the Boonsboro Recycling Task Force and 55 sponsoring partners.

Community yard sale to be held at high school
Boonsboro High School will hold a community yard sale on the school campus Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Items from clothes, toys, dishes and movies to yearbooks will be available.
Spaces are still available for $10 per space and $5 for additional spaces. Tables will be provided.

Boonsboro Lions to hold barbecue
The Boonsboro Lions Club will hold its first chicken barbecue of the season Saturday next to Columbia Bank, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
All proceeds remain in the local community in support of youth groups, preschool vision screening, college scholarships, hospital equipment and other activities.
BHS Class of 1977 plans reunion meeting
The Boonsboro High School Class of 1977 will hold a reunion planning dinner meeting Wednesday, May 16, at 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Hagerstown.
The group is planning for its 35th reunion, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Elks Lodge.

Strawberry festival
The Rohrersville Ruritan is accepting vendors for its annual strawberry festival on June 9 and 10. Craft vendors, flea market vendors or those wishing to set up yard sale booths are welcome to participate. Also, church or Scouting groups wishing to assist with children’s activities are encouraged to call.

Relay for Life
On June 22 and 23, the American Cancer Society will sponsor a Relay For Life at Washington County Agricultural Education Center on Sharpsburg Pike.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 22 and end at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 23. During that time, participants will walk as teams to raise money for cancer research. The community is invited to participate in the walk or support the cause with a donation.

Today is election day
Boonsboro residents are reminded to get out and vote today. Five candidates, including an incumbent, are vying for two council seats in the town election. The mayor is running unopposed.
Voting will be held at the Community Center in Shafer Park from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Anyone who is registered to vote in Washington County and is a resident of Boonsboro is eligible to vote.
‘Bigfoot’ at library
The Boonsboro Branch of Washington County Free Library will present “Bigfoot,” a historical mystery presentation that answers all of the most classic questions about the phenomenon, including: “Why haven’t we ever seen one?” “Why haven’t we ever killed one?” “Why haven’t we ever captured one alive?”
The program will be presented by Warren Gray Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
