The regular meeting of the Hagerstown Lioness Club will be Thursday at the Academy Theatre Banquet & Conference Center in downtown Hagerstown. Doors open at 6 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Miss Maryland 2011, Carlie Colella. Carlie graduated from North Hagerstown High School as an honor student and is now a senior at Hood College studying business management.
She is a member of the soccer team and plans to graduate in May.
She was a participant in the 2012 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas, and will speak to the chapter about her experience.
Five new members will be inducted into the Lioness Club.
The Community Service Committee has requested that members bring items for the Community Free Clinic.
Happy birthday, Girl Scouts
The Girl Scouts organization turns 100 years old on March 12.
In celebration of the milestone, Washington County Girl Scouts are inviting all Girl Scouts, former Girl Scouts and parents to attend the 100th birthday celebration on Monday, March 12, at 6:15 p.m. at the J.C.Penney Court at Valley Mall.
The ceremony will start at 6:30 p.m.
The plan is to create a large friendship circle, light a birthday candle, and sing a song.
Anyone who still has a Girl Scout sash or pins is encouraged to bring them to the celebration.

Trip to flower show
The Crossroads Garden Club invites the community to take a bus trip to the Pennsylvania Flower Show in York, Pa., on Friday.
The bus will leave Long Meadow Shopping Center at 9 a.m.
The trip costs $32 for the bus, and tickets to the flower show cost $10 for adults, and $8 for students and those 62 and older.
Reservations are required.

Basket bingo
The South Hagerstown High School Rebel Band will hold a Vera Bradley/Longaberger basket bingo Sunday at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive.
The doors will open at 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets cost $25. Tip jars, baked goods and sodas will be available for purchase.

Rockland Woods auction
Rockland Woods Elementary PTO will hold its second annual auction Saturday, March 24, at Next Dimensions in Funkstown.
Doors will open at 4 p.m., dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the live auction starts at 7 p.m. A silent auction will also be offered. Tickets cost $15 per person, and include dinner and dessert.
Items to be auctioned include tickets for sporting events and local attractions, theme baskets, home decor, restaurant gift cards and other items.
All proceeds benefit the school.

Golf tournament planned
Discovery Station and the Hagerstown Lions Club will sponsor the sixth annual Discovery Classic Golf Tournament Friday, July 20, at Black Rock Golf Course.
The shotgun start is at 8:15 a.m. The tournament is a four-person scramble flighted format. Women golfers are encouraged to participate.
Tournament prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in each flight and to winners of special contests, including longest drive on a designated par 5 and closest to pin on all par 3s. A Discovery putting challenge, open to all players as well as nongolfers, offers a $5,000 grand prize for the finalist who can sink a 50- foot putt. There was a winner in this event in the 2011 tournament.
The entry fee is $80 per golfer. The fee includes registration, duffer’s bag, greens fee and cart fee, beverage and snack cart, full buffet luncheon, and multiple prizes.
Free range balls will be available at 7:15 a.m. Golfers’ entry also includes two free putts in the putting contest. Two additional putts can be purchased for $5. Nongolfers can enter the putting contest and participate in the buffet luncheon for a $25 entry fee. Hole sponsorships cost $100 each or $400, including a foursome. Business sponsorships for the tournament are available.
Registration forms are available at the admissions desk at Discovery Station, 101 W. Washington St., during museum operating hours, or contact the Lions Club to have a registration form faxed, e-mailed or sent to you or your organization.
Entry fees by check should be made payable to Discovery Classic Golf Tournament. They must be submitted to the above address with a completed registration form. The entry fee may also be paid by cash or check with registration at Discovery Station.
The tournament has a limit of 128 players.
The tournaments benefits Discovery Station exhibits and operations and the numerous sight conservation and community projects funded by the Lions Club Foundation.

World Day of Prayer
Williamsport Area Church Women United will hold its World Day of Prayer Friday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 32 E. Potomac St. in Williamsport. The theme is “Let Justice Prevail.”
The community is invited.
