The Hagerstown YMCA will hold its annual gala Saturday, Feb. 25, at Hager Hall Conference Center on Dual Highway in Hagerstown.
Cocktails begin at 6:15 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:15 p.m. Tickets cost $295 per couple and includes cocktail hour, dinner for two, dancing and a chance at winning the grand prize, a 2012 Volkswagen Beetle.
Prizes from local businesses and restaurants in the community will be given away, as well as other drawing opportunities. This is the largest fundraiser the YMCA holds to help support its youth sponsorship programs, as well as help families who are unable to afford memberships.
Tickets can be purchased from any member of the YMCA board of directors or at the front desk.

Wolf Furniture donates $250 to St. Mary School
Wolf Furniture donated $250 to St. Mary Catholic School recently.
The furniture store has an annual golf tournament and picks area nonprofits to receive donations from the profits.
Rick Wenzel from Wolf Furniture recently presented the donation to Principal Patricia McDermott and the Rev. Collin Poston, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Morris Frock Auxiliary
Morris Frock Unit 42, American Legion Auxiliary, will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. to have supper off the menu in the dining room, followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m.
The group will plan its next sandwich sale, which will be March 6. Orders and order sheets will be available at the bar.
Orders must be received by March 1.
All profits go to ongoing programs and scholarships.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 had a weight loss of 42 1/2 pounds for the week. The best TOPS losers were Maida Law and Barbara Hall. The best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers were Linda Seibert and Kathy Renner.
The no-no snack for the week is pie.
Shirley Knode won the ha-ha prize. The monthly get-r-done winners were Joann McCabe for TOPS and Mary Jo Cunningham for KOPS.
The thinner winners for the week were Henry and Joanne P. with 2.8-pound losses for TOPS Chapter 0446.
Carolyn won the ha-ha prize.
The chapter welcomed Linda, a new member, and Carolyn’s mother, a visitor.
Joyce C. presented the program titled “Exercise: Mission Not Impossible.”
She talked about the excuses made for not exercising, reasons to exercise and suggestions for exercising at home. She then led the group in a variety of chair exercises.
The chapter meets Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road, Hagerstown. Weigh-in is at 8:45 a.m.

Young at Heart
Young at Heart will meet Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Carmine’s Italian Restaurant, 22409 Jefferson Blvd. in Smithsburg.

Shiloh United Methodist Church, at 19731 Shiloh Church Road in Hagerstown, will offer an adult Korean karate class on Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 7, from 6 to 7 p.m.
The class is for those in ninth grade through adults.
Participants can join at any time. Classes will be ongoing.
The class will be taught by the Rev. Ken Fizer, who is a fifth-degree black belt.
The monthly cost will be $20 per person. The family rate will be $35 (two or more from the same family). This is a nonprofit organization.
The class will offer fitness, confidence building, energy, security, flexibility, coordination, muscle tone and fun.
Classes will be taught in a safe, Christian atmosphere.

The Mason-Dixon Barbershop Chorus will provide singing Valentines as its annual fundraiser on Monday, Feb. 13 and Tuesday, Feb. 14.
Men’s quartets are available to sing two love songs, present a card from the sender and a small gift. The singing Valentines cost $40. You pick the time and place.
