Halfway church to host women's event Oct. 14

Virginia Avenue Church of God will host a presentation of “Women of the Bible” by Anita Guschick on Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. Guschick will dramatize the lives of three women in the Bible. The performance will take place at the church at 17306 Virginia Ave. Tickets cost $10 and will be available at the door.

Harvest Hoedown   

The 10th annual Harvest Hoedown will be Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Fairgrounds Park in Hagerstown.

The park entrance is off Cannon Avenue.

Entertainment will be provided, along with pony rides, hayrides, pumpkin and face painting.

Showcase of Bands  

The annual Showcase of Bands, a showcase of Washington County Public Schools high school marching bands will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11, at South Hagerstown High School’s School Stadium.

The showcase begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the gate or contact local band boosters for ticket information.



Change the World weekend planned

Williamsport United Methodist Church members will participate in the Change the World Weekend, which is Oct. 8-10.  

Throughout the Baltimore Washington Conference, thousands will be joining forces to make a difference in their local communities.

‘Women of the Bible’

Williamsport United Methodist Church will celebrate the “Women of the Bible” Sunday.

Women in the congregation will participate and assist in telling the stories of the infamous “Women of the Bible.”  

“Remember Us, the Women” will be part of the 9:30 a.m. service.

The church is at 25 E Church St. in Williamsport.



Reminder

Parents of Washington County Public Schools students, please be sure to note the following on your calendar: Schools will close two and one half hours early Friday and there will no prekindergarten classes on that day.
