AARP chapter to meet Jan. 10
Washington County AARP Chapter 623 will meet Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. in the auditorium of the Western Maryland Hospital Center on Pennsylvania Avenue in Hagerstown.
Wayne Taylor, a certified fraud examiner, will talk about scams.
Yearly dues of $5 will be collected. Prospective members are always welcome.

Way to go, Noah
Congratulations to Noah W. Stottlemyer, an eighth-grader at Smithsburg Middle School who was named to the distinguished honor roll list for the second marking period.
HCC alumni plans Caribbean cruise
The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host an 11-day Caribbean cruise in January.
The third annual HCC Alumni and Friends Cruise will take place from Sunday, Jan. 8, to Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Port stops include Tortola, St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Thomas and San Juan.
The cruise is open to the public, and everyone is invited to attend. Rates start at $1,116.26 per person/double occupancy.
Cruise fee includes accommodations for 10 nights on Norwegian Cruise Line’s “Norwegian Gem” cruise ship; all government taxes and fees; all meals and entertainment; and round-trip transportation from HCC to the departure port.
A portion of the cruise fee will benefit HCC student scholarships and the HCC Foundation.
