Churches offering food
It is said that churches have the best cooks. Here are a few opportunities for you to put that to the test here in Boonsboro in the coming weeks:
- Trinity Lutheran, at 64 S. Main St., invites the community to a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu includes pancakes, sausage and beverages. There is no set cost, but donations will be accepted.
- Mount Nebo United Methodist Church will host a community dinner Saturday, March 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. The menu includes pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, green beans, dessert and drinks. Tickets cost $8 for adults, $4 for those ages 5 to 11, and are free for those younger than 5.
Mount Nebo is at 134 S. Main St. in Boonsboro.

- The public is invited to participate in Trinity Lutheran’s annual chili cook-off Saturday, March 31, in the social room.

- Benevola United Methodist Church will host an oyster dinner Saturday, March 3, from noon to 6 p.m.
Tickets cost $15 for adults and $7 for those 10 and younger.
The menu includes fried oysters, ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, sauerkraut, corn, green beans, applesauce, assorted desserts, iced tea, lemonade and coffee. Food will be served while supplies last.
