Historical society to meet Sunday
The Hancock Historical Society will meet Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Hancock Town Hall and Community Center, 126 W. High St. After a short business meeting, a staff member from Washington County Free Library will present a program on Hancock history, especially the digital resources collected at the main branch of the library. The public is invited.
Halloween party to be held Sunday
St. Thomas' Episcopal Church hosts the annual All Hallows' Eve Party Sunday at 6 p.m. in the parish hall. Children are encouraged to wear a costume. Adults are welcome to come in costume, too. Games and refreshments will be provided. The church is at Church and High streets.

Trick-or-treat to be held Monday
Trick-or-treat night in Hancock will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Residents are asked to leave their porch lights on to indicate their participation. Police Chief T.J. Buskirk and fire and rescue personnel will be on safety patrol in town.
Hydrant flushing set for Wednesday
Hancock citizens take note: Hydrant flushing takes place Wednesday, Nov. 2, beginning at 7 p.m. Try to refrain from using your washing machine that evening. Some discoloration of tap water can result from this periodic cleaning of the hydrant system.
Christmas bazaar set for Nov. 5
Mark your calendars now for the annual Christmas bazaar at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Saturday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Raffle tickets, including cash prizes, are on sale.
The bazaar features handmade Christmas crafts, bake table, homemade soups, lunch, pies, and a selection of white elephant items.
Co-chairwomen Jane Shaw, Linda Mellott and helpers have been working to make sure that everyone who attends can come away with items for holiday giving. The church is at Church and High streets.
Dr. Chaney to talk about breast cancer
Dr. Charles Chaney will be the featured speaker at the Hancock Assembly of God Women's Ministries meeting Monday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m.
Chaney specializes in breast cancer surgery and is a physician at Meritus Medical Center. He will speak on breast cancer awareness and take questions from the audience.
The meeting will be held in the church's fellowship hall. Refreshments will be served.
The church is on North Pennsylvania Avenue.
