The Hagerstown Kiwanis Club will hold its annual Kiwanis Classic Golf Tournament Friday, Aug. 3, starting at 11:30 a.m. at Beaver Creek Country Club.
The tournament is an 18-hole scramble format for father/mother–son/daughter.
The event costs $150 per team, which includes greens fees, cart, meal and two beverages. The buffet dinner will start at 4:30 p.m.
Two-person teams can consist of any combination (parent, child, grandparent, in-law, or “step” relationship, male or female). If not related, golfers can “adopt” a teammate. If adopting, golfers must have at least 20 years’ difference in age.
Play is from the tee normally used for established handicap or average score. Otherwise, males ages 16 and older play from the white tees, men ages 65 and older play from the gold tees, and women and boys (15 and younger) play from the red tees.
The tournament will be flighted by handicap/average score.
Prizes will be awarded by place of finish in each of four flights.
The course is at 9535 Mapleville Road.
Proceeds will benefit local youth program sponsored by Kiwanis.

Halfway pool event
Special population individuals, family members, friends and caregivers are invited to an evening swim Thursday, July 12, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the pool at Martin L. “Marty” Snook Memorial Park in Halfway.
It will be an opportunity to socialize, swim and have fun.

Summer concert series
A summer concert featuring local and regional performers will be held Saturday, July 14, at 7 p.m. at the Hagerstown City Park bandshell.
The concert is co-sponsored by the Washington County Arts Council, the city of Hagerstown and the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau. The event is free and open to the public.

Christmas in July
A Christmas in July craft fair will be held at Valley Mall beginning Wednesday, July 18. Dozens of vendors and artists will showcase homemade items, such as silver jewelry, pillows, primitive crafts and other items.
The mallwide event will be on display through Sunday, July 22.
