“I’d just like to say that whether you call it Obamacare or the Affordable Health Care Act, I just received a letter from my health care provider, insurance company, that said I’m going to get a rebate. Being on a fixed income as a retiree, I think it’s fantastic, regardless of whether it’s Obamacare or Affordable Health Care, that I can get a rebate from my insurance company. First time in 40-some years that I can recall ever getting something like that.”

“U.S. Postal Service is on the roll again. As of Tuesday, the Brownsville post office will be closing, after being there since 1824. My wishes go out to all the people of Brownsville, my friends and my relatives. I’m sure it will be missed ... OK, U.S. post office, I wish you good luck.”
— Boonsboro
“I am hoping someone out there can help on how to get a senior citizen involved in some kind of activities to fulfill her day. If you know of any kind of programs that I may be able to get her into for a few hours a day to give her some interaction with others, (it) would mean a world of difference to this person. Transportation help provided to get her to these activities also would be helpful. Anyone that has any information or suggestions on things I have mentioned could just drop a line to Mail Call.”
— Maugansville
“Finally Judge Benson E. Legg has ruled that the state of Maryland does not have the right to tell me I must have a ‘good and substantial’ reason, to its satisfaction, to carry a concealed handgun. I have a constitutional right to carry a gun. What the state needs to do is provide a ‘good and substantial’ reason why I should not be allowed to carry a concealed weapon. If the citizen is not allowed to carry a gun, only criminals will be carrying guns.”

“President Obama is not an ordinary Democrat. Ordinary Democrats want to redistribute income in America. Obama wants to realign America in the world. He wants America downsized.”
— Hagerstown
“I’m calling about the tax situation. You know, the government writes the tax laws. The president, if he likes them, signs them. The best way to do this is a flat tax, a way to pay a percentage, and no deductions at all. A man makes $1,000, he pays $100; man makes a million dollars, pays $100,000, it’s that simple. That way we got our tax problem solved, and then we can have more money, by cutting out all the waste from your spending, by sending money overseas. Then you would have enough money to take care of the senior citizens, who built this country on their backs in the first place.”

“To the Waynesboro caller: This is the first time I’ve ever seen ‘Fox News’ and ‘the whole truth’ in the same sentence.”

“I would like to know why these people who mow their grass have to blow it out all over the road, and then when you drive your vehicle through it, it sticks all over your vehicle. They have no respect for anyone that’s driving on the road. The road is not for to blow grass, it’s for to drive your vehicle. These people don’t have brain one.”
— Downsville
“July 24, oil went down over $3 a barrel. July 26, they raised the gasoline. Where’s our consumer and our price index? Something has to be done. Who’s doing this, cartel, or are they blaming this on the president?”
— Maugansville
“Watching the Olympics over in the U.K. has been very enjoyable. One of the best things about it is seeing all the human bodies without ridiculous tattoos.”
