“The mayor and council have the nerve to tell Mr. Dahbura that the city of Hagerstown can offer a generous sum for updates to the stadium, when directly across Memorial Boulevard is the defunct eyesore, the light plant, and also, across the road is the defunct paper plant. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see what needs to happen. Mayor and council, open your eyes.”

President Obama quoted Eisenhower in his speech in his defense drawdown, ‘the need to maintain balance in and among national programs,’ but he also forgot to quote another from the famous general: ‘Weakness in arms often invites aggression.’”

“I’m a Republican living in the country, in the south county, in Neil Parrott’s district. This guy isn’t doing anything for me, or anything I want done. I can’t even reach him. He doesn’t have an office. What’s he hiding from?”

“I’m getting that sucking feeling out of my pocketbook again from Annapolis, with the increase in the flush taxes and the fuel taxes, and it’s interesting to see your article about the flush tax, and see the four groups that’s influenced the governor of Maryland to be persuaded to raise taxes — and you ended the article by saying that it’s almost half completed, what they intended. “I’ve been reading the Hagerstown Suns situation, and if the money our current county commissioners and city councilmen have spent and wasted in buying rundown real estate and other things, then if they can’t put something together to save the Suns from moving out of our city, then every one of them should be voted out in the next election, including the mayor. We should be excited to be part of this vastly improving franchise, who will have no problem finding another city to move to.”

“To the Smithsburg resident: We had a Democratic Congress, my friend, and we saw what happened there, so don’t be too quick to vote them in. That’s why we voted Republican Congress in. So read your history. Actually, what we need is for everybody to work together, but I’m sorry, President Obama will not work with the Republicans.”

“I subscribe to The Herald-Mail, and have since I was very young, when living in Washington County, back in the early ’60s. I recently saw something mentioned about the Circle tavern. It was a restaurant on the circle, and it kind of brought to mind that I would really enjoy reading stories about the local businesses; McCrory’s, Newberry’s, what became of the mynah bird at Newberry’s, the history of the restaurants. Yeah, I would really enjoy that.”
