Community night planned at church

A community movie night will be held Saturday on the lawn at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave. in Hagerstown.

Activities begin at 6 p.m. and the band begins playing at 7 p.m.

There will be games, free food and music by Prevenient Grace from Washington Square United Methodist Church.

The public is invited.

Lioness Club

The Hagerstown Lioness Club will hold its regular club meeting Thursday, June 9, at the Academy Theatre Banquet & Conference Center in downtown Hagerstown. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Past District Gov. Dave Fisher will induct the 2011-12 officers and board members. Attendance awards will be presented.

Lions Club

Tuesday — Massey Roe Youth Foundation Scholarship presentation. Foundation President, Lion Jerry House, will make the presentations.

Church accepting registration for preschool

Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave., is accepting registration for its Mother's Day Out program for the school year starting in the fall. Children ages 6 months to 4 years old attend the all-day session from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. They participate in socialization with other children in their respective classrooms, do crafts, have story time, sing songs, play games and bring their lunch every Tuesday.

The school operates on the public school schedule through the end of May. The program has been a part of the church's community outreach for 28 years.

Congratulations, Damien

I'd like to take this time to congratulate my son Damien, who will be graduating from South High Friday.

We are very proud of all that you have accomplished.

Damien will be going to the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall.
