TOPS 0077
Losses for the week totaled 29 3/4 pounds for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077.
Linda Baker and Dottie Zimmerman were the best TOPS losers, while the KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) leaders were Mildred Hluchy and Joan Budny.
Louise Cline won the ha-ha prize.
There won’t be a no-no food for the remainder of the month because the weekly meetings will be limited to weighs-in only.
The group was treated to a humorous skit titled “I’m Gettin’ Nothin’ for Christmas,” presented by the officers and members.
Kathy Freese presented the program, “Fatty Liver Disease.” She said the liver captures and stores excess fat circulating in the blood. She said this can lead to many health issues, including prediabetes, heart disease and cancer. A few causes include obesity, a passive lifestyle and medication. Symptoms might not show up for years, but some include skin discoloration, fatigue, pain in the abdomen or back and forgetfulness. Prevention and treatment include weight loss and exercise.
Zimmerman gave a pound puppy to Freese.
There will be weigh-ins only Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 from 7 to 9 a.m.
The group meets Monday mornings at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown.
