The Clear Spring Lions Club will hold its 62nd annual Minstrel/Variety Show Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. at Clear Spring High School.
Tickets cost $6 for adults, $4 for students and children, and are free for preschoolers.
There are opportunities to have dinner hosted by local organizations before the shows.
The Clear Spring Band Boosters will hold a spaghetti dinner Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Tickets cost $6.75 for adults and $4.75 for those ages 2 to 12.
The menu includes spaghetti, salad, bread, iced tea, lemonade, coffee and dessert. There will be a cake auction, the winners of which will be announced at 7 p.m.

The Clear Spring High School athletic department will hold a roast beef supper Saturday from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and a soup and sandwich sale Sunday, starting at 11:30 a.m. Dinners are not included in the cost of the show and are paid for separately.
Essay contest winners
Joseph C. Herbert Unit 222 Clear Spring American Legion announced the winners of its annual essay contest.
This year’s topic was “What Freedom Do I Enjoy the Most?”
Winners for group one (third and fourth grades) were: first place, Olivia Frye; second place, “Trey” Lawrence Giles III; and third place (tie) Catie Snyder and Melody Swain. Winners in group three (seventh and eighth grades) were: first place, Danielle Cornwell; second place: Nicola Al Sahouri; and third place (tie) Amanda Keelan and Lily Potterfield. There were no entries for group two (fifth and sixth grades).
St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Big Pool will hold a slippery potpie dinner Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m.
The menu includes country ham or chicken slippery potpie, coleslaw, applesauce, beverage and dessert. There also will be a dessert auction, and peanut butter and coconut eggs will be sold.
The community is invited.
The meal is by donation.
Food for seniors
Hilltop Christian Fellowship, at 12624 Trinity Church Drive, Clear Spring, will host an afternoon of food and fellowship for senior citizens Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.
