The Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown’s Rose Day will be Thursday, Oct. 27.
The event remains the club’s major fundraiser.
Long-stem roses will be available by the dozen in red, yellow, pink and other colors. The roses cost $20. Orders made in advance are delivered to customers. Roses also are available at various locations on Rose Day, including Gold’s Gym on Northern Avenue, Rose Hill Cemetery at the entrance on Memorial Boulevard, and CMD Logistics on Governor Lane Boulevard. To order roses in advance, call 301-739-1129.
Proceeds support area youths through organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County, Girls Inc., The Salvation Army, Children’s Village, local high school Key Clubs and other groups. Funds also support annual Kiwanis Club scholarships to high school seniors.
Garden club show
Crossroads Garden Club will present “The Greens Show and Afterglow” Sunday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Women’s Club auditorium, 31 S. Prospect St. in Hagerstown.
The event costs $12.
The presenter will be Jeanne Ha of Park Florist in Takoma Park, Md. Ha has taught floral design classes and is a co-founder of the Shover School of Floral Design.
There will be refreshments and door prizes.
Tickets are available through any Crossroads Garden Club member or by calling the Women’s Club at 301-739-0870.
Women’s workshop
A women’s business workshop titled “Social Media: Turn Your Business into a Flourishing Success” will be Monday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hager Hall on Dual Highway in Hagerstown.
The presenter will be Jennifer Weiss, a management consultant.
The workshop is co-sponsored by the Business and Professional Women and Small Business Development Center.
The cost is $20 for dinner and the program, or $15 for the program only.

Soup and sandwiches
St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church’s pie, soup and apple dumpling sale will be Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
The church is across from the South End Shopping Center.
All items are homemade and will be for carryout.
Pies include cherry, apple, pumpkin, peach and egg custard. There will be 6- and 9-inch pies.There will also be apple dumplings. Soups include ham and bean, chicken corn, chili and vegetable beef. All soups will be sold by the quart.
Sandwiches include country ham, beef and pickle, and egg salad.
Church to hold auction
Emmanuel United Methodist Church, at 802 Summit Ave. in Hagerstown, will hold its fourth annual auction Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. Doors open at 3 p.m.
Food and desserts will be available, provided by the United Methodist Women of Emmanuel UMC.
Proceeds will go to major church improvements.
Several items will be auctioned, including two tickets to the Sunday, Dec. 4, NFL game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Steelers in Pittsburgh.
Basket bingo planned
On Sunday, Oct. 23, a Longaberger basket bingo will be held at The Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 on Lappans Road.
Doors open at 11 a.m., lunch will be served at noon and the 25 games begin at 1 p.m. All baskets will be filled.
Seats are limited. For tickets, call Carrie at 301-582-8236. Participants must be 18 years old to play. Proceeds benefit the Habitat for Humanity Women Build program.
