Fliers for the “Reading to Make Cents” contest to raise money for Books for Babies will be coming home with students.
Be on the lookout for a bright “sunflower” colored paper.
This is the 11th anniversary of the “Reading to Make Cents” contest, which will be held the week of Nov. 11 to 18.
The money will be used to buy books that will be included in a book packet presented to each newborn at Meritus Medical Center.

Live nativity planned at church
Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave., will host a live nativity on the Church Lawn Saturday, Dec. 8, with presentations at 7 and 8 p.m.
There will be costumed characters, music and narration as the Christmas story is told through the eyes of Mary, Joseph, Innkeeper, shepherds, angels and the crowd.
Refreshments will follow.

Shredding event to be held Nov. 17
On Saturday, Nov. 17, A Better Shredder, based in Williamsport, will host a free shredding event for the public in the back parking lot of the Williamsport Moose Lodge at 119 Conococheague St. from noon to 3 p.m.
A donation for the shredding will be requested and all proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Washington County.
A Better Shredder requests four boxes per person and all forms of paper can be shredded.
