Legion Auxiliary honors Gold Star Mothers
Sept. 30 is Gold Star Mothers’ Day, a day to recognize and honor those who have lost a son or daughter who was serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Each year on Gold Star Mother’s Day, the president calls on all Americans to display the nation’s flag and hold appropriate meetings to publicly express their love, sorrow and reverence toward Gold Star Mothers and their families.
Government buildings are also required to display the flag.
Sharpsburg Unit 236 American Legion Auxiliary recognizes Brigitte Ecton and Willie Knight. Brigette’s son, Harry, and Willie’s son, Orville Lee, were killed in Vietnam.
