South High alumni group to meet tonight

The next meeting of the South High Alumni Association will be today at 7 p.m. in the South High media center.

On the agenda are 2011 scholarship recipients, golf tournament (June 23) and the Mega Reunion (June 25).

Yard sale planned at Williamsport church

St. Andrew Presbyterian Church at 10813 Donelson Drive in Williamsport will host its annual yard sale Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The men of the church will host the yard sale, and the women of the church will serve pulled pork sandwiches, steamers, hot dogs, soups, cakes, pies, candy and drinks.



Community expo to be held at Valley Mall

A community expo presented by the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Valley Mall.

The event will feature local businesses and organizations. The Washington County Agricultural Education Center will have exhibits and a farm animal petting zoo.

The expo also will include performances from local dance, music and sports groups; Washington County Humane Society pet visitation and adoption; City Market produce, flowers and crafts; a scavenger hunt; local police and fire department demonstrations; and more.



Parent-Teacher Association will meet at Hickory

Parents and teachers of Hickory Elementary School students are invited to attend a general PTA meeting on Monday, May 23, at 5:30 p.m. at the school.

Elections will be held at the meeting.



Hickory students receive Character Counts! awards

Each month, one student from each classroom at Hickory Elementary School is designated as a Character Counts! Good Citizen of the Month.

Students are nominated for demonstrating one of six pillars of character. Students were nominated in April for displaying the character trait of loyalty.

Students who were nominated are Hailey Bui, Kylie Carpenter, Jacob Danner, Madi Ebersole, Grayson Harvey, Spenser Lane, Amara McDaniel, Ryan Miller, Corry Nelson, Athena Pike, Arriah Rayford, Jarrid Rinehart, John Seredich, Corbin Weaver and Marissa Willis.
