Diabetes support group
The Diabetes support group at Walnut Towers will meet Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 1:30 p.m. in the eighth-floor community room.
The program, titled “Counting Carbs to Control Diabetes,” will be presented by Lisa McCoy, registered dietitian with the Washington County Health Department.
The support group is open to individuals who live at Walnut Towers and anyone in the community. It provides a forum for educating individuals with diabetes to help manage their disease and to gain support from others.

Pet photo fundraiser
Local dog grooming boutique Bow Wow Station & Spa will hold a two-month-long photography fundraiser for the Humane Society of Washington County.
The event begins today and continues through the month of February.
Costumes and props for your pet to create their own “look” will be provided. Photography sessions will be done during regular business hours between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Reservations are recommended by calling 301-393-5333.
The pet boutique is at 18212 Oak Ridge Drive.
Designer jewelry, crystal collars, tiaras, feather boas, bow ties and more will be available, said Deanna Hendershot, boutique owner.
Participants will receive a complimentary 5-by-7-inch print and all rights to their photo. The sitting fee is $12 and $2 extra for each additional pet. Family members are welcome to have their photos taken with their pet.
Tuesday — Andrew Steele will present cultural comparisons between the United States and South Africa.
The next meeting of the Elizabethtown East Neighborhoods 1st group will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rocky’s Pizza next to City Hall on Potomac Street in Hagerstown.
