Department 1 Imperial County Superior Court Judge Juan Ulloa brings almost two decades worth of judicial experience to his re-election campaign.

He’s been a Superior Court judge for 18 years and spent two years — 1992-1994 — as a juvenile court referee.

“What I bring is proven experience. I’ve sat in every court in Imperial Valley and have heard every type of case,” Ulloa said. “I’ve been a leader for court improvement and expanded court efficiency in services.”

He added, “I have earned a reputation as impartial, efficient and able to make tough decisions.”

The 61-year-old Ulloa, of El Centro, has been married to Rosie for 39 years. Together they have five children.

Ulloa earned his bachelor’s degree from University of California, Riverside, in 1972 with a double major in Mexican-American studies and anthropology and earned his juris doctorate from University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law in 1965.

He was a private practice attorney in Imperial County from 1982 to 1994. Before that he spent seven years as directing attorney at California Rural Legal Assistance.
