— The Jessamine County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting May 24 at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Dr. Phyllis Corbitt. The society is located at 216 N. Main St.
— A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. — The Wilmore Farmers Market is now open for the 2012 season. Fresh produce and baked goods will be available each Saturday starting at 8 a.m. The market will be open rain or shine until 1 p.m., or until that week’s goods are sold out. The market is located in the city-hall parking lot.
— The brothers of Central Lodge No. 91, F & AM, and the sisters of the Fairest Chapter No. 104, OES, will host a $100 gas giveaway on Saturday, May 26. Donations for tickets are $1. For more information, call 859-971-0078.
— Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera Bread, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.
— The Jessamine County Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and welcomes people 60 years of age and older. The center has a fully equipped exercise room and a thrift shop. The seniors meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. — The Francis Asbury Society, located at 1580 Lexington Road, Wilmore, is hosting a study of the book of Exodus on Mondays at 7 p.m. through June 16. The study is led by Dr. John Oswalt, visiting distinguished professor of Old Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary. — St. Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., announces its spring film festival. The final film will be shown Wednesday, May 30, starting at 7:15 p.m. The festival will feature recent Russian-language films (with subtitles) having religious themes. The film selection is as follows: May 30: “Parables II.”
— Chrysler on Nicholasville is teaming up with Relay for Life team Generations Hair Depot Ponytails to raffle of a piece of UK history. Tickets to win a pink autographed Anthony Davis basketball will be on sale May 18 through the drawing on June 8. Each ticket purchase receives 3 entries for $10. Tickets can be purchased at the following locations: Chrysler on Nicholasville, Generations Salon, Jessamine County clerk’s office and Town Square Bank. — Wilmore Parks and Recreation is again hosting the RJ Corman Annual 5K Run. The 1-Mile Fun Run and 5K Run will take place on Saturday, June 30, in downtown Wilmore, at 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. respectively. The starting and ending point will be in front of the Wilmore United Methodist Church on East Main Street. Water will be available along the course and refreshments after the race. Free T-shirt to all 1-mile and 5K entrants and awards for 5K winners. Registration forms at www.wilmore.org, Wilmore City Hall and on day of race.
