It's a new Texas feud... and Mayor Parker may have delivered some fightin words!
The target: San Antonio.
Folks in the Alamo City are a little miffed at a perceived diss of their famous River Walk.
When asked why Houston hasn’t developed the bayous to bring in more tourists, Mayor Parker said, "As I travel I`m often asked by people why we don’t turn Buffalo Bayou Park into a River Walk.
The answer is that the River Walk is a cement ditch... there’s no nice way to put it"
Wow! Those words weren’t water under the bridge...get it? Forget Big D, We have a new rival... let the trash talk begin!
San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro told a TV station: "Mayor Parker is a good mayor, we have a good relationship but it was clear from her moments that Houstonians are more than little jealous of the River Walk."
The mayor didn’t seem too concerned. She said: "Seriously?" and laughed.
So is there a better way to say it?
Mayor Parker said, "The River Walk is not a natural channel... let me say it diplomatically."
Ok... go on... "It is in fact a cement ditch, it is a wonderful tourist amenity apparently."
So, will the two mayors duke it out?
"I don’t think I have a problem with the mayor but it certainly was not intended as a slam on San Antonio... it is a wonderful amenity for San Antonio... I would rather have Buffalo Bayou,” says Mayor Parker.
