HOUSTON, TX—
6 million Jews perished during the Holocaust. Each year the Houston Jewish community gathers for Holocaust Remembrance Day, or "Yom HaShoah," a national memorial day in Israel.
Candles are lit for the departed and a siren sounds in Israel to signal two minutes of silence in remembrance.
Houston has a community of about 250 Holocaust survivors living in the area. All of them are living history books, hoping to keep awareness alive.
