Gayle Anderson was live in Exposition Park with a preview of the Endeavour exhibit at the California Science Center. Starting Tuesday, October 30th, visitors can see the space shuttle Endeavour at the Samuel Oschin Space Shuttle Endeavour Display Pavilion, while the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center, a new addition to the Science Center, is being built. Along with the orbiter, the pavilion will feature video experiences and significant artifacts such as the Spacehab flown in Endeavour's payload bay on shuttle mission STS-118.
Guests will begin their experience by visiting Endeavour: The California Story, a companion exhibit featuring images and artifacts that relate the shuttle program to California, where the orbiters were built. Also., the “California Story” gallery will feature components that flew into space with Endeavour. Guests can see up close Endeavour's toilet, galley and tires from STS-134, Endeavour's final mission.
When completed, Endeavour will be the centerpiece of the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center combining an exceptional collection of aeronautic and space artifacts with immersive experiences and hands-on, inquiry-based exhibits. The Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center will be designed to inspire guests to explore the scientific concepts underlying aeronautics and the formation and exploration of our universe.
