EL DORADO COUNTY
Nancy Garrido has been moved to a state prison facility.
The woman who admittedly helped kidnap and hold a young girl captive for 18 years has been moved from the custody of El Dorado County.
Garrido and her husband Phillip have been in the El Dorado County jail since the Fall of 2009 when they were transferred from the Bay Area.
The couple was arrested after Jaycee Lee Dugard was discovered in their custody. After an investigation, it was learned Dugard was kidnapped from her South Lake Tahoe street in 1991 by Nancy and Phillip Garrido. She was then held captive in the couple’s Antioch backyard for nearly two decades.
Nancy and Phillip made plea deals with El Dorado County prosecutors and pleaded guilty to kidnapping and assault charges.
Earlier this month, Nancy was sentenced to 36 years to life in prison. While it is assumed she will spend her incarceration in the women’s prison at ChowChilla, officials have not released exactly where she was taken this week.
Phillip was sentenced to 431 years to life in prison. El Dorado officials say they cannot comment on when he will be moved or where he will serve his time.
