Governor Sam Brownback issued a disaster declaration due to extensive torndao damage across Kansas.
Trained storm spotters reported 97 tornadoes throughout Kansas Saturday. Several of those reports are likely duplicates, but it has been an active weather day. And it's not over yet.
Below is a list of damage reports. There have been no reports of injuries.
Ford County: Hail knocked out windows in Kingsdown
Russell County:K-18 was temporarily closed in Russell County due to power lines on the road, but has since been opened. Power outages were reported in Lucas and Luray and to isolated rural customers. Other damage reports include trees down and debris from wind in addition to minor flooding in low lying areas.
Hodgeman County: Sheriff reports moderate damage to farmsteads in rural area. Damage ranges from downed trees and power poles to moderate roof damage. There have also been outbuildings along 232rd road destroyed and an RV overturned.
Barber County: 1.75 inch sized hail
Barton County: 1.25 to 1.75 inch sized hail
Beloit: some power poles down, minor street flooding in the county but it's expected to recede quickly
Butler County: 1235 people without power
Rush County: structural damage and downed power lines. Rush Center is without power. Three farmsteads in Rush County sustained damage or destruction of outbuildings. One home was reported damaged near Loretta and a farmstead damaged in the Bison-Timkin area.
Ellsworth County: The tornado crossed Hwy 141, south of Lake Kanopolis, 8 mi. South of the water pump station. It turned over one irrigation system. It was mainly in the open around and missed several farm houses. There are downed power lines and trees. One home was destroyed near Langley.
Rice County: The tornado damaged a home near Kanopolis Lake in Geneseo. The home belonged to Kevin Patrick, he and his family are okay but they lost two dogs in the storm. There's also property damage in the the Little River area, K14 E, and NE of Lyons and around Geneseo area. Downed power lines, but no injures. damage to two to three homes and a tank battery damaged at 24th Road and Avenue C. One inch sized hail. Emergency management Director Terry Davis: some residents homes were damaged North and East of Lyons. Still assessing the damage, no specific address yet. No reports of injuries.
McPherson County: Some country roads are impassable from debris and power lines down. There's a residence damaged near the McPherson/Ellsworth county line (along Hwy 4) Otherwise, the tornado skirted through other residences and leaving behind fences, power lines, trees and an overturned irrigation pivot. No one hurt.
Marion County: Tornadoes are still on the ground, still collecting damage reports.
Harper County: Still collecting reports
Harvey County: Several outbuildings were destroyed four to five miles west of Hesston. One residence has some windows blown out. Some power poles are down.
Sumner County: Homes destroyed near rural Argonia, Conway Springs and Milan. No one was hurt. There is some damage to wires and trees. There are downed power lines all over the western end of the county.
