1. Celebrate National Vanilla Milkshake Day Around New Haven!

Summer is coming. I mean, we think it's at least on its way. Spring has gotten hot enough to fake us out a couple times, but it's June and we're still seeing 40s on our thermometers, so no one's fooling us. But, as is typical in New England, we could end up melting for weeks straight any day now. Have you found your favorite chilly beverage to cool down with this season? One you may have overlooked, the simple vanilla milkshake, is celebrated nationally on June 20, apparently. And we were alerted to the holiday by McDonald's, of all places.

  7. Great Baltimore cocktails, The Long Thailand Tea, My Thai

When I went to Thailand two years ago, I developed an obsession for the way the culture makes — make that "takes" (as is tradition) — their iced tea.

  11. Catching Up With Holden In NYC

NEW YORK CITY — Storybook-themed outings, particularly for young kids, abound in New York. Fans of "Eloise at the Plaza'' by Kay Thompson can book the Plaza Hotel's Eloise Suite, featuring a sparkly padded pink headboard and Eloise's name in neon lights. Stuart Little fans can float model boats on Central Park's Conservatory Water, recalling the scene when the mighty mouse commandeered the Wasp in E.B. White's novel. Children gather at the park's statue of Hans Christian Andersen, who wrote the "Ugly Duckling" and "Thumbelina," for story-telling sessions.
