Netflix blames Amazon for Christmas Eve outage

If you didn’t get to stream your favorite Christmas movie Monday, don’t blame Netflix, the company says. An outage at one of Amazon's web service centers affected the video service on Christmas Eve and was not fully resolved until Christmas Day, no doubt forcing some to get their Christmas fix via the yule log on television ... With bad weather making holiday travel difficult today, US Airways has adopted the spirit of the season by waiving the $150 change fee it normally charges customers who must alter their flights ... You may be getting an apology, in writing, from the Marlboro man and Joe Camel, after a federal judge’s recent ruling. The court order may require retailers to display mega mea culpas as part of a multimedia blitz acknowledging that the nation’s biggest tobacco companies lied about the dangers of smoking ... The post-Christmas malaise has hit the stock market, which is waiting for the president and Congress to resume budget talks. But retailers slumped after the holiday, with Coach Inc. and Urban Outfitters Inc., both dropping 2 percent ... A western Pennsylvania company says it has given Shell Oil Co. six more months to decide whether it wants to buy land for a proposed petrochemical plant about 35 miles north of Pittsburgh. The so-called cracker plant would convert natural gas liquids from the Marcellus Shale into more profitable chemicals such as ethylene, according to The Associated Press.
