Stages Theatre Company with Theatre Downtown present "Summertime," a musical tribute to black Americans' influence on theater performance.
Described by the presenters as a family-friendly musical revue, "Summertime" features heartwarming melodies from "Porgy and Bess," "The Color Purple" and "The Wiz," selections from "Ragtime," "Hair" and "Smokey Joe's Café."
There's also a medley from "The Lion King" — sponsored by Ibex Puppetry.
Jackie Bell directs the show, with musical direction by Kelly DeWayne Richards.
Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 4 and 5, with a matinee at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6.
