UCF senior Kemal Ishmael will join teammate Quincy McDuffie in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. (PHELAN M. EBENHACK, SPECIAL TO THE SENTINEL / November 24, 2012)

UCF senior safety Kemal Ishmael and wide receiver/kick returner Quincy McDuffie will play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on January 19 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., the bowl announced today.

Ishmael, the C-USA defensive player of the year, and McDuffie, the C-USA special teams player of the year, are coming off of standout seasons and will join a group of draft prospects in the contest – which will air at 6 p.m. on ESPN2. Practices from the bowl game will also air on ESPNU on January 17, the bowl announced.

Ishmael is a four-year starter at UCF, and he led the Knights in tackles for a third consecutive year with 124 in 2012. Ishmael is UCF’s all-time leading tackler among defensive backs, and ranked third overall with 368 tackles. He was named the team’s most valuable player.

McDuffie was honored as a Sports Illustrated first-team all-American after returning three kickoffs for touchdowns in 2012. McDuffie led the nation in kickoff returns with a 34.2 average, while also finishing his career as UCF’s all-time leader in kickoff returns (90), kickoff return yards (2,501) and kickoff return touchdowns (six).
