Drivers in downtown Winter Park will have to detour around part of New England Avenue in coming days.
The road will be closed at the railroad crossing from 6 p.m. Thursday to 3 a.m. Sunday as SunRail crews work at the site.
According to the city, workers will install a second set of tracks for SunRail trains, as well as rebuild sidewalks and resurface the road at the crossing.
Winter Park is part of the first phase of SunRail, which will run from DeBary in Volusia County to Sand Lake Road in Orange County. That 32-mile segment of the commuter-rail system is to begin operating in 2014, with Phase 2 — extending farther north into Volusia and south into Osceola — following in 2016.
