Joseph H. Gasco, of Pellston and formerly of Harbor Springs and Boyne Falls, passed away Dec. 29, 2012, at McLaren Northern Michigan at the age of 57.
Heaven now has another Angel.
He was born on Dec. 9, 1955, in Petoskey, the son of John and Irene (McCary) Gasco Sr. He grew up primarily in Harbor Springs and Boyne Falls and was a graduate of Boyne Falls High School, class of 1974.
Joseph's mother and siblings will forever remember a brother who cared deeply for his family. "He was the type of person who always wore a smile on his face; he possessed a wonderful warm and generous heart and gave of his love unconditionally." Family came before all things in Joseph's life; he was a wonderful caregiver to his mother, Irene, and his stepfather, Roland Petoskey. While he was never blessed with children of his own, he established remarkably close and loving relationships with his many nieces and nephews. He was taken far too soon and he will be deeply missed.
Joseph is survived by his parents, Irene and Roland Petoskey, and by his siblings and they include, John Gasco of Levering, Marcia (Tom) Sutton of Boyne Falls, Harry Gasco of Vancouver, Wash., Allen (Judy) Gasco of Boyne Falls, Deleta Smith of Pellston, Regina Bentley of Boyne City, Bart (Jody) Gasco of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Stephen Gasco of Boyne City. He is also survived by his 24 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John Gasco Sr., and by sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Dwight Kolodgy, and by sister, Alicia Carson, and brother-in-law, Patrick Smith.
Joseph's life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, at Stone Funeral Home. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday. The Rev. David Behling will officiate.
