CHARLEVOIX — Charlie Hamilton scored a game-high 18 points as Charlevoix topped Harbor Springs, 60-50, Friday in a Lake Michigan Conference contest.
For Harbor Springs, Spencer Kloss scored 15 points and Neal Zoerhof added 10.
The Rayders led at the end of the first quarter, 17-15.
Harbor Springs then outrebounded Charlevoix and took a 33-25 lead at halftime.
“Harbor Springs was more physical in the first half than we expected, and they used their height against us,” Charlevoix coach Adam Wood said. “I was proud of the boys for coming back in the second half.”
The Rayders recaptured the lead to end the third quarter with a slim 42-41 advantage.
Charlevoix would then outscore the Rams 18-9 in the final eight minutes to walk away with the win.
Also for Charlevoix, Zach Hankins had 16 points and six rebounds and Tanner Catt added 10 points. Charlevoix improves to 6-2 overall, 4-1 league and will host Grayling on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Harbor Springs is 4-6, 2-3 and will travel to Boyne City on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Grayling 57, Boyne City 55
BOYNE CITY — Cory Redman scored a game high 24 points, Maceo Vroman added 12, and Brad Fouchia had nine for Boyne City in Lake Michigan Conference loss to Grayling.
“We had some youthful breakdowns in the first half,” Boyne City coach Nick Redman said. “But, we came back and played solid defense and pressed real hard forcing them to turn the ball over and put us on the line.”
The Ramblers had the lead at the end of the first quarter, 16-14. The Vikings came back in the second quarter, and by halftime had a 34-30 lead.
Grayling stretched its lead to 48-39 by the end of the third.
Boyne City started to press in the fourth quarter and closed the gap to two, but fell just short of the win.
“Dalton Gardner played some tough minutes for us off the bench,” Redman added. “With some starters missing, we needed a spark on the defense side of the game.”
For Grayling, Scott Parkinson scored 13 points.
The Ramblers 3-5 overall, 2-3 league and will host Harbor Springs on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
