  1. Supremes waffle on marriage equality

Over the last 40 years, I've been involved in a lot of political battles for a lot of different causes: workers' rights, women's rights, gay rights, environmental protection, anti-war, anti-nuclear power, anti-urban sprawl, animal rights, gun control, clean air, open space, small farms, global warming. 7. Changes of heart on gay marriage

There is much debate about the recent change of heart of Ohio Senator Rob Portman since he has publicly declared that he now is no longer against same-sex marriage. Senator Portman’s altered position was prompted by the revelation of his 21-year old son that he — the son — is gay.

  9. At Supreme Court, gay marriage comes full circle

It is the hottest ticket in the country. On Tuesday morning, only a lucky few will be inside the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the historic arguments over whether California’s gay marriage ban is constitutional. Among the 400 courtroom spectators...

  11. Chief Justice Roberts' lesbian cousin hopes for gay marriage win

  15. Cure for homophobia? It's personal

The other day, I stumbled across a conversation about homosexuality on a local Christian radio station. There were three people talking, and after the predictable hemming and hawing about loving the sinner and hating the sin (though in this case, the...

  17. Daum: Cure for homophobia? It's personal

The other day, I stumbled across a conversation about homosexuality on a local Christian radio station. There were three people talking, and after the predictable hemming and hawing about loving the sinner and hating the sin (though in this case, the sin and sinner seemed so inextricably linked when it comes to sexual activity that the distinction was largely irrelevant), one of them homed in on a grand observation.

  19. Fuming over the assault weapons ban's failure

To say that that the preponderance of letters we receive on assault weapons call for their ban wouldn't be an exaggeration. So when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced Tuesday that the ban proposed by Sen. Dianne Feinstein wouldn't be brought to the floor for a vote, readers fumed.
