He became the youngest National Champion (at the time) in the INEX Legends Car Series, at age 15. In the series, he racked up 28 wins and 11 track records. He moved to major-league stock car racing in 2002 with a debut in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. The following year, he moved to the NASCAR Busch Series. He won the NASCAR Rookie of the Year in 2010, but his only competitor ran only three out of the first 10 races during the year. It was the least competitive rookie of the year. Conway ran 28 races that year.
