CHANCELLOR, S.D. (AP) — Authorities searching a home for drugs in the southeastern South Dakota town of Chancellor during a parole check arrested three people and shot and killed a dog.
The Turner County Sheriff's Office says authorities were using a police dog to aid in the search Tuesday when one of the homeowner's three dogs got loose and attacked the police dog. It was shot and killed, and the other two dogs in the home were taken by animal control officers.
Officials say that 62-year-old Gregory Alan Johnson, 30-year-old John James Johnson and 24-year-old Terra Jean Hopp face several charges, including maintaining a drug house, possession of drugs and paraphernalia and keeping a vicious animal.
