1. Longing for a rosy result

Texas may or may not end up in the Pacific-12 Conference. Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott tried to lure the Longhorns last year before his dream for a 16-team super league was squashed — or maybe deferred. Texas once held a big stack of expansion...

  3. Colts struggle again in loss to Browns

Though two games, all the doom and gloom of a Peyton Manning-less era seems to have come true.

Though two games, all the doom and gloom of a Peyton Manning-less era seems to have come true. Even the struggling Cleveland Browns we're not enough to give the team a much needed pick me up. Instead it was the visitors who pick and chose the moments...

  5. Projecting the rest of the Ravens' season

We've reached the quarter pole of the NFL season, and it's probably fair to say we still don't quite know what to make of this Ravens team.
We've reached the quarter pole of the NFL season, and it's probably fair to say we still don't quite know what to make of this Ravens team. They've pounded two of their rivals (the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets), they've laid an egg against a...

  7. Picture getting clearer

Ohio State can win despite itself. The Buckeyes are by no means a flashy team, but they do two things really well — run the ball and play defense. It's that formula that helped them hand Illinois its first loss. Texas still has a lot of work to do....

  9. Ravens news, notes and opinions

Of the Ravens’ final 11 games, four of them will be played against teams with first-year starting quarterbacks. That includes the two games against the Cincinnati Bengals and their rookie signal-caller Andy Dalton, the game against the Curtis Painter-led Indianapolis Colts and Monday night’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert. It does not include the Oct. 30 Arizona Cardinals tilt, though it easily could because Kevin Kolb is essentially an undisputed starter for the first time in his career. Another two will be played against the Cleveland Browns and their struggling second-year quarterback Colt McCoy. And then there are the games against the Seattle Seahawks, who will likely start Tarvaris Jackson, and the San Francisco 49ers, who barring an injury will start Alex Smith. Both Jackson and Smith have been maligned throughout their young careers. All of what I just mentioned is a long way of saying that the Ravens will face two elite quarterbacks – the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger and the San Diego Chargers Philip Rivers – the rest of the regular season. That, more than anything, is why I think the Ravens will wind up winning more games than most people originally expected. We all know the “Any Given Sunday” cliches, but the Ravens have been feasting on young and unproven quarterbacks for years. The Jets’ Mark Sanchez and the Rams’ Sam Bradford were added to that list already this season. With how aggressive defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano has been and how well the Ravens have shut down the run, it’s very hard to envision some of these quarterbacks having any extended success against this defense.

  11. Week 3 (9/25): Browns 17, Dolphins 16

    South Florida Sun-Sentinel
Jimmy Wilson wanted the blame. After the Miami Dolphins' 17-16 defeat here against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Wilson stood in front of his locker and told anyone who would listen that this loss was his fault. He didn't hide. He didn't shy away...

  13. Ravens look to continue trend of roughing up young quarterbacks

When Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert stands under center Monday, he'll be confronting one of the NFL's elite defenses and a trend that suggests that he's in for an extremely long night.

  15. It's anyone's game now

Oklahoma's loss opens the door for just about everyone in the Big 12. Everyone expected the road to the conference title would go through Norman, but now that's not the case. Oklahoma State and Kansas State have the inside track, and Texas A&M and...

Teams have success in their first game with an interim HC which was the case on Thursday night. Arizona scored 6 TD’s on six 1H possessions and had a 416-177 yard edge. New HC Kish installed the old Arizona (Double Eagle) Flex D as they led 42-7...

4. Let's give Ray Lewis a mulligan for some of those missed tackles. He's owed one. Because the alternative is kind of depressing.
