1. Ravens extend Ray's last ride

The Baltimore Ravens wanted one long final ride for Ray Lewis.
The Baltimore Ravens wanted one long final ride for Ray Lewis. They also wanted Denver. They got it. Having disposed of Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts, they now face a far more imposing challenge — Peyton Manning and the streaking Broncos....

3. Ravens roar in K.C.

Ray Lewis knows a championship defense when he sees one. Now the Kansas City Chiefs do, too. Lewis and Baltimore’s tough and savvy defense overwhelmed the young Chiefs on Sunday, sacking Matt Cassel three times and forcing five turnovers in a 30-...

5. At start of OTAs, who's there is far more important than who isn't

Who is there, or more appropriately, who isn’t? That undoubtedly will be the most popular question this week as the Ravens start the first of three sessions of organized team activities. The sessions will run from May 21 to 23, May 29 to 31 and June 4 to 6, leading into the mandatory veteran minicamp, which starts on June 11.

7. As OTAs begin, several Ravens still working their way back to health

Starting today and continuing over the next three weeks, Ravens’ rookies and veterans will come together for organized team activities. The three day OTAs, which will be held at the Under Armour Performance Center in Owings Mills from May 21-23, May 29-31 and June 4-6, will serve as a prelude to the mandatory veteran minicamp, held on June 11-13. The OTAs are voluntary and several Ravens veterans traditionally have skipped them or at least gone to only one or two of the sessions. There will also be a group of players who aren’t ready to participate in the scaled-down workouts after sustaining injuries last year or had an offseason surgery. Several players mentioned below fit into that category.

9. Ravens may have No. 2 receiver already on their roster

Whenever the conversations about the leading candidates for the No. 2 receiver come up, Ravens officials like to mention several names including Deonte Thompson, David Reed, LaQuan Williams and Tandon Doss.

11. Ravens trying to get a grip on the Pistol offense?

Unless you are a football junkie, you probably don’t know or don’t care that the Kansas City Chiefs hired Chris Ault, the man who invented the Pistol offense and coached Colin Kaepernick at Nevada, to a consulting gig.

13. Leadership is a theme in Ravens' 2013 draft class

I couldn’t help but notice a trend with Baltimore’s 2013 draft class, especially because Ravens officials made a point to mention to reporters that both of their second-day picks were “red-star” players on their draft board.

15. Urban Meyer really loved Ravens rookie John Simon

On Saturday evening, Ravens coach John Harbaugh was asked about fourth-round draft pick John Simon, who was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2012. Harbaugh raved about Simon’s attitude and work ethic. “I think Urban Meyer has a...

17. Versatility could be key in Ravens' crowded offensive line picture

Over the last couple of weeks, the Ravens have added and retained seven offensive linemen, further complicating what figures to be one of the more competitive -- if not interesting -- position battles in training camp.

19. Ravens could use two tight ends more often in 2013

The Ravens offense will be different without wide receiver Anquan Boldin, whose strong hands and bulky frame allowed him to snatch the majority of the passes in his area and, in turn, endear himself to Joe Flacco.

23. Ravens news, notes and opinions

The common conclusion from the Ravens’ decision to re-sign Bryant McKinnie was that the organization wasn’t yet comfortable with the idea of Kelechi Osemele starting at left tackle. I’m sure there is plenty of truth to that even though team officials suggest that’s not the case. However, the reason why the McKinnie move was a no-brainer – at least in my mind – was that the Ravens couldn’t risk potentially weakening two positions along the offensive line. Osemele may very well develop into a quality left tackle in the NFL. However, who replaces Osemele at left guard? Osemele was dominant at times when he moved from right tackle to left guard for the playoff run. Could Jah Reid play at that high of a level? How about Ramon Harewood or fifth-round draft pick Rick Wagner? The Ravens’ offense made too many strides last year to start the coming season with a completely new pairing on the left side of the offensive
