Rahm Emanuel

Rahm Emanuel is the mayor of Chicago. He was elected on Feb. 22, 2011. Emanuel is former White House chief of staff under President Barack Obama. Emanuel represented the 5th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2003 until his resignation in 2009 when he took his position in the Obama Administration. He graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in 1981 with a Liberal Arts degree, and received an M.A. in Speech and Communication from Northwestern University in 1985.   2. Today's Buzz: Should Orlando airport dump TSA?

    Congressman John Mica urged Orlando International Airport on Monday to replace its Transportation Security Administration screeners with private screeners. He said private screeners would operate more efficiently than government screeners, and provide better service to the public. As the chairman of the House aviation subcommittee after 9-11, Mica helped create the TSA when American were demanding more effective measures to keep terrorists and weapons off airplanes. But he says the agency has become too large and bureaucratic since then. Mica said private screeners would still be supervised by TSA and operate under agency guidelines. Would you feel as safe flying if private screeners return at airports? Do you feel safe now with the TSA doing the screening? Should Mica’s proposal be viewed as serious, or a political ploy to bolster his shaky standing with small government conservatives? Talk about it!
