  5. New Exhibits at Middlesex Community College

College students are either heading back to school this week or already did. If you're an MxCC student (or just in the area), head to Middlesex Community College's Pegasus and Niche galleries for two new exhibits: Sonya Suydam Gill's "Color," opening on Jan. 28 (that's her "River at Dusk," an oil on canvas work, pictured above), and Michael DiGiorgio's "Drawn From Life, opening on Feb. 4. Gill's inspiration comes from the world around her — flowers, water, fabrics and colors — while DiGiorgio illustrates his love of bird species in their natural habitats. Both are local Connecticut artists (Gill lives in Chester, DiGiorgio in Madison) and have exhibited their work locally and throughout the country. Head to Gill's opening reception on Feb. 6.
