  1. Win and UMBC is in America East tournament

Despite Friday night’s 16-10 setback to No. 11 and America East foe Albany, UMBC is in the driver’s seat regarding its entry into the conference tournament. If the team defeats Binghamton this Saturday at UMBC Stadium in Catonsville, the Retrievers will finish in the top four of the league standings and lock up a spot in the tournament.

  7. KAL's depiction of Carson is disgraceful

To say that I was absolutely outraged when I saw the KAL's cartoon of April 14 is putting it more than mildly. To see Dr. Ben Carson falling flat on his face is showing such disrespect for a man who has spent half of his life using his surgical skills to heal and save the lives of so many children in this country. It is disgraceful to say the least.

  19. Learning at sea even better with life jackets

Kudos to the nonprofit Pride of Baltimore, Inc. for showing kids that learning can be fun, as was apparent in the published photographs ("Pride II takes to the bay as a floating classroom," April 11). But there was something blatantly missing — life jackets! Let's be sure to also use these learning excursions to teach the importance of water safety.
