  21. Daniel J. Spangler, 35, of Wildwood Crest, N.J., formerly of Somerset

    Daniel J. Spangler, 35, of Wildwood Crest, N.J., died suddenly at home Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013. He was born May 26, 1977 in Johnstown. Daniel is the beloved son of Gregory Spangler and his love Chris Henderson of Wildwood Crest, N.J. and Kathy Wise and her husband William Wise of Kutztown. He is also survived by his brother Patrick Wise of Kutztown; grandfather, Charles Spangler and his wife Nancy of Stoystown; uncle, Robert Spangler of Somerset; aunt, Michele Albaugh and her husband Robert of Johnstown; and aunt, Bonnie Mazzie of Lower Burrell. Daniel was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Martha M. Stutzman Geisel and Charles D. Geisel; and by paternal grandmother, Charlotte Spangler; aunt, Patricia Spangler; grandparents, Jean Wise and William J. Wise Sr.; and aunt, Sally Jordan. Daniel is a 1995 graduate of Somerset Area High School and worked as an EMT in Harrisburg, Wildwood and Belleplain, N.J. He worked several cherished years with his dad, Gregory at Ceragem and Health Mate Saunas in the tri-state area. Daniel was an avid Steelers fan and loved country music. He was loved by all who knew him and was a wonderful light in this world. Services at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 357 W. Main St., Kutztown. Call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Schmoyer Funeral Home, 8926 Brookdale Rd., Breinigsville and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the church. Those who have filed for unemployment benefits -- sums of $100 to $200 per week -- often find their claims challenged. If approved, they are often challenged again. These workers, with few resources, face delays in receiving unemployment compensation. Those who aren't capable of navigating the official steps required to fight the challenges may never receive unemployment.
