Jim Maas cast his lure far into the Delaware River, and boom — fish on.
Jim Maas cast his lure far into the Delaware River, and boom — fish on. He reeled the shad in, scooped it into a net and marveled at his luck. First cast of the day and he already had dinner, if he wanted it. He didn't. Even some of the most...

11. A second chance to collect old rebates

13. Crash into a Jersey barrier? Expect a bill from PennDOT

Q: My daughter was going west on Center Valley Parkway on a wet afternoon in October when she turned onto the access road leading to Route 309 north, and struck the barrier. Though she and her son recovered fully from their injuries, her car was 'totaled'. Ambulance personnel told her they respond to similar accidents at this intersection several times a month. Subsequently she received a PennDOT demand that she and her insurance company pay $8,575 to repair damage to 37.5 feet of the barrier. She was shocked; there was no way she caused that amount of damage. I realize PennDOT needs money for road repairs, but this intersection is so poorly designed that accidents are going to continue to happen until it is reconfigured. Neither my daughter nor the insurance company should have to pay the amount demanded by PennDOT.

17. Is Easton becoming the Valley's dining hot spot?

When Josh Palmer opened his restaurant, Sette Luna, in Easton's historic district seven years ago, he had a good feeling about the struggling city's revitalization efforts. Today, he's even more confident. His urban Tuscan trattoria at 219 Ferry St. is still going strong.
