11. Q&A: The-Dream on 'Love IV,' writer's block, the Weeknd and 'wack' R&B beef

  15. December 26 - January 1 in nightlife: New Year's Eve, The Roots, Matisyahu

Ah, it's finally here - December 31. Yes, the end of the year, but also that special night when Baltimore bars stay open all night long thanks to a wonderful, archaic state law. Later this week we'll put together a list of all (ok, most) of the bars that are staying open past 2 a.m. Until then, here's the week in nightlife: Matisyahu, a Grateful Dead cover band, Jason Weems, and the Roots.

Recovered yet from FreeFest? (Or! Hampdenfest!) Even if the festival was only a day, the weekend felt like a long one. Maybe that's what being around all those Deadmau5 fans feels like. What did you think of the festival this year? Were there too many...

  21. September 19 - 25 in nightlife: Deadmau5, Fleet Foxes, Brad Paisley, Wilco

How was HFstival this weekend? Were there as many bugs as during FreeFest? Did the Avett Brothers make it at least worthwhile? There are no festivals in Baltimore this weekend, but there are a handful of excellent shows. And Deadmau5 is performing in the area again. I'm looking forward to The Walkmen at Merriweather, who are opening for Fleet Foxes. Elsewhere, there is: Moby at the Hippodrome (of all places), Big in Japan at Ottobar, Matmos, a Height with Friends tour kick-off show, Wilco and Brad Paisley.
