The All-State teams are announced and Central Dauphin cleans up in AAAA. Fifth-year coach Glen McNamee and junior running back Zayd Issah take top coach and top player awards, respectively, in Class AAAA -- a nice way to top off a historic December that also included winning a PIAA title last week.
The big difference is that Issah, who scored the game-winning touchdown in CD's 14-7 victory over Lansdale North Penn in the AAAA championship game, shared the player of the year honors with Nazareth quarterback Daniel Harding. Harding passed for nearly 3,800 yards this season to lead the Blue Eagles to their first District 11 championship.
Also making the Quad A team, Zach Wilk and Evan Schwan from CD, Diante Cherry from J.P. McCaskey, Adam Brenneman from Cedar Cliff and Kyle Friend from Cumberland Valley.
District 3 champion Lancaster Catholic, which won its second Class AA state title in three seasons, placed running back Roman Clay, offensive lineman Adam DePietro and defensive specialist Charles Sweigert on the all-state team.
