Freda E. Charles, 81, of Winchester, widow of the late Willie Lee Charles, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the St. Joseph East Hospital.
Mrs. Charles was born on May 29, 1930 to the late Avery and Fannie Ginter Hunt. She was a retired quality control inspector for Curlee Clothing Manufacturing and Hart, Shaffner, & Marx. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Lewis, Vickie Garner (Gary) and Cheryl Rye (David,) all of Winchester; six grandchildren, Steven Lewis (Tina), Rodney Lewis (Erin), Chris Garner (Amanda), Kim Wills (Billy), Stacy Carruba and Shelley Rye; 11 great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Amanda Lewis, Zach, Kayla, and Lauren Lewis, Justin and Rayna Garner, Mason and Haylee Wills and Jaxon and Gavin Carruba; a brother, Norman Hunt (Madeline); and a number of nephew, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8 at Scobee Funeral Home by Pastor Gary Brown. Burial will be in the Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Charles’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7 at Scobee Funeral Home.
