William Apperson Thompson, 90, formerly of Kentucky, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, in Denver, N.C. 
Mr. Thompson was born in Mount Sterling on Dec. 19, 1921 to the late Howe A. and Nettie R. Thompson. He retired as CWO 4 from the U.S. Air Force in in 1968 after 25 years of service, and later retired from Rockwell International before moving to Cape Coral, Fla.
He is survived by his sister, Frances L. Gange of Durham, N.C.; two sons, Bill Thompson of Las Cruces, N.M., and Russ Thompson of Clarksville, Tenn.; his daughter, Pat Austin of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, including Jared Austin of Winchester and Amy Austin Baker of Cincinnati; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 1 p.m. at Scobee Funeral Home by Dr. Ed Mesta. He will be buried in the Winchester Cemetery next to his wife, Orah Baber Thompson.
