Black Jack, Roulette and High Limit Slots. We know you’re thinking Las Vegas, Nevada, but we’re talking New Buffalo, Michigan. Four Winds Casino Resort walks us through a day in the life of a high roller.
The glory of high limits gambling is attractive and enticing. Close your eyes and imagine you’re on the world famous Las Vegas Strip. -The sights, the sounds, and of course the high roller lifestyle. But don’t be fooled. This type of living is also right in your backyard.
It’s a gem in the middle of the Midwest.
"I think that this compliments or matches, certainly can compete with the 5-star properties in Las Vegas," said Matt Harkness, General Manager of Four Winds Casino Resort in New Buffalo Michigan. “The vast majority of the people coming to this property are not playing in a room like this."
High limits gambling. You hear about it in the movies. So what’s it like to live like one of these guys?
“Almost like a James Bond experience to come walking through to see this area," Harkness said.
In the high limit room, it's not just about throwing a few pennies in a slot machine. Every chance you take here is worth one hundred dollars. Four Winds takes it one notch up for the high limit area.
A celebrity-like experience, you’ll love the limelight as the most important person in the room.
“This particular room high limits room is very exclusive. We’ll only have one person playing in here at a time," Harkness said.
When we're talking high end, how much do you need to actually spend to get into this room?
“Well we do that through a host, we don't talk numbers, “ Harkness said. “But its people who are certainly not playing at a normal level."
And extreme spending wins you exceptional treatment: A private buffet, a fireplace lounge, and specialized tables to cater to your betting fancies.
After a day of dishing out the dollars on the casino floor, Four Winds rolls out the red carpet for any high roller wanting to spend the night on property.
“We don't sell these suite rooms, they're for our high end players," Harkness said.
The most lavish living quarters offered on site, these rooms are 1,200 square feet. Each amenity in here is constantly vying for your attention. It’s not every day you can walk into a hotel suite and have a television built right into your mirror.
After you’re done admiring the TV, you still have the waterfall bathtub and the luxurious living room. Not too bad living like a king or queen.
The glitz and glamour of the suites and the high limit room is not something a gambler would expect in the middle of Michigan.
“We’re able to accommodate the high end guest to the level that they're used to that really exceeds the expectations they have,” Harkness said.
The life of high roller…this type of treatment would turn any gambler into a grinning kid on Christmas morning.
Four Winds Casino Resort accommodates all levels of gamblers, but the luxuries you saw are amenities only granted to players who have the highest level card called the Copper Card.
And remember it’s always smart to gamble responsibly.
